The Church of St. Augustine is a friendly and welcoming church, committed to proclaiming Jesus Christ as Lord; our faith and worship are in the Anglo–Catholic tradition, under the pastoral and sacramental care of the Bishop of Richmond. The central act of worship is the Mass, wherein we proclaim and celebrate all that God has done for us in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Our worship is conducted with reverence and dignity, and we are blessed in having an excellent musical tradition.
Christians believe marriage is an important part of life. They believe the purpose of marriage is to:
-
unite with someone they love for the rest of their lives
-
to be faithful and make this sacrament with God’s blessing and in God’s presence
-
to have children who can also be part of the Christian faith

Christians believe that marriage is a covenant before God. Their marriage will take place in the presence of family and friends who act as witnesses. This shows that they are committed to each other.
Marriage is mentioned in the Bible many times. Most Christians regard the Bible as an important source of authority. They believe in its guidance to marry. In the Gospel of Mark Jesus says:
"At the beginning of creation God made them male and female. For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."
