From The Deanery

A message for the NE Lincs Deanery Partnership -           Wednesday  28th May

Good afternoon all

As usual there’s lots going on the Deanery so here are some events you might like to attend.  There are posters attached to print or send to others to spread the word further.

·       The Deanery Ascension Day service tomorrow Thursday 29 May at 7pm is at St Augustine’s church in Legsby Avenue Grimsby.  This is a service for the whole Deanery and everyone is welcome.

·       Churchwardens Swearing In – please can Wardens let me know by Wednesday 4 June if they are attending the swearing in service at St Peters in Humberston on Sunday 8 June at 4pm.  There are further services at All Saints Gainsborough on 15 June 4pm and in Kirton Lindsey on 22 June 4pm please let me know if you are attending either of these.

·       The next Deanery Synod will be on Tuesday 10 June at 7pm at St Peter and St Paul Healing – if Synod representatives could let me know if they are unable to attend that would be great.

·       St Peters Cleethorpes concerts – the regular series of lunchtime concerts at St Peters in Cleethorpes starts on Friday 6 June.  The poster and details of each concert is attached.

·       The Friends of St Helen’s Barnoldby-le-beck have organised a history walk around the village with local historian Emma Lingard on Sunday 8 June at 2pm. Tickets can be booked here  Friends of St Helen's Church (Barnoldby) event tickets from TicketSource. where you will see information about other talks and events at St Helen’s.

·       Also, at St Helen’s Barnoldby this weekend was a pop up tea room to provide refreshments for the Grimsby and Louth Ramblers on their regular 10 mile Sunday walk.  It was a great success and raised money for the church whilst encouraging people inside the building.  If any other rural churches would like to do a similar thing either in the church or church hall please do contact me 01522 452028 or nelincsdeanery@lincoln.anglican.org  Please also do get in touch if your rural church or church hall has a car park that can be used for around 10 – 15 cars at the start of walks (usually Monday, Wednesday Friday and Sunday) – the group would make a donation to the church.

·       Youth Event at St Marks Grimsby Rev Erin Butler has asked me to promote a Youth Event at St Marks on Saturday 21 June at 11am – 5pm - there is a poster attached.

We are inviting all youth to our Youth event Next Wave Saturday! The event is led by Youth With A Mission (YWAM) and it is a day that is focusing on helping us to live out our faith!  We will have games, lunch, worship, input, and we will go to Cleethorpes beach!

You can sign up here --> https://stmarksgrimsby.churchsuite.com/events/khnji52g

·       St Peters in Humberston are having an Afternoon Tea and Trivia Quiz event on Saturday 7 June at 2pm – they say it will be a ‘Delightful afternoon filled with fun, food and prizes’  Booking is required – contact Theresa Barker 07855 912492 or email theresabarker@ntlworld.com

·       Open Gardens for Lincolnshire Churches Trust   Louth are holding open gardens on Sunday 22nd June when several gardens in the town will be available to visit and all proceeds are being donated to Lincolnshire Churches Trust.   There will be some usually secret gardens open to look around and you can also visit the magnificent St James Church in Louth for architectural appreciation and/or refreshments.

·       And finally – I have very much enjoyed looking at this live stream of the peregrine falcons at Lincoln Cathedral and I thought others might like to see it too  - just click on this link  Lincoln Cathedral Peregrines

Please do let me know if there are any other events in the Deanery you would like to send out to everyone.  I look forward to hearing from you.
