SEVENTH SUNDAY OF EASTER

THE ASCENSION OF THE LORD

God Goes Up with Shouts of Joy

​

Jesus has ascended to his Father and ours, and promises us his Spirit to be with us. With his intercession and that of all the saints, we can hope to enter his company eternally.

​

The Readings for the Ascension:

Acts 1:1-11

Hebrews 9:24-28;10:19-23

Gospel: Luke 24:46-53

 

Collect:

Grant, we pray, almighty God,

that we, who believe that your

Only Begotten Son, our Redeemer,

ascended this day to the heavens, may

in spirit dwell already in heavenly realms.

Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

SIXTH SUNDAY OF EASTER

My Own Peace I Give You

​

Peace was Jesus' farewell gift to his Church - not a static peace but an active peacemaking through his Spirit in the hearts of all his people. It was he who said 'Blessed are the peacemakers.'

​

Apocalypse 21:10-14.22-23

Gospel: John 14:23-29

Collect:

Grant almighty God,

that we may celebrate with heartfelt

devotion these days of joy, which we

keep in honour of the risen Lord, and we

relive in Remembrance we may always

hold to in what we do.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Sunday 15th May 2022

FIFTH SUNDAY OF EASTER

Here God Lives Among Us

​

Our faith in the presence of the risen Lord among us is but a foretaste of his eternal presence with his people in his heavenly kingdom.

​

Acts 14:21-27

Apocalypse 21:1-5

Gospel: John 13:31-35

Collect:

Almighty ever-living God,

constantly accomplish the Paschal

Mystery within us, that those you were

pleased to make new in Holy Baptism may,

under your protective care, bear much fruit

and come to the joys of life eternal.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

FOURTH SUNDAY OF EASTER

We Are His People, the Sheep of His Flock

​

Jesus died and rose for people of every race and nation. Nobody is excluded from his grace. As Shepherd he welcomes everyone who enters his sheepfold.

​

The Readings:

Acts 13:14.43-52

Apocalypse 7:9.14-17

Gospel: John 10:27-30

​

Collect:

Almighty ever-living God,

lead us to a share in the joys of heaven,

so that the humble flock may reach where

the brave Shepherd has gone before.

Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Sunday 1st May 2022

THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER

Praise and Thanksgiving to God

​

The disciples met their risen Lord over a simple meal. We too continue to enjoy his presence in the Eucharistic meal - the Mass. To him be praise and thanksgiving for ever.

Acts 5:27-32.40-41

Apocalypse 5:11-14

Gospel: John 21:1-19

Collect:

May your people exult for ever, O God,

in renewed youthfulness of spirit, so that,

rejoicing now in the restored glory of our adoption,

we may look forward in confident hope to the rejoicing of the day of resurrection.
