Liturgy, Solemnities and Feasts - February 2022
Sunday 27th February 2022
EIGHTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Every Tree I'd Known by its Fruit

What do we have to show for all the love God has shown us? Are our words full of bitterness or sweetness? God fills us with goodness to use for his glory.

The Readings:
Ecclesiasticus 27:4-7
1 Corinthians 15:54-58
Gospel: Luke 6:39-45

Collect:
Grant us, O Lord, we pray,
that the course of our world
may be directed by your peaceful rule
and that your Church may rejoice,
untroubled in her devotion.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

SEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
The Lord is Compassion and Love

It is natural to stand up to people and 'get even' with them. The message of the gospels runs differently : we must learn to be compassionate and to forgive if we wish to be forgiven by our compassionate Father.

The Readings:
1 Samuel 26:2.7-9.12-13.22-23
1 Corinthians 15:45-49
Gospel: Luke 6:27-38

Collect:
Grant, we pray, Almighty God,
that, always pondering spiritual things,
we may carry out in both word and deed
that which is pleasing to you.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Sunday 13th February 2022
SIXTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Happy are Those who Trust in the Lord

It is all too easy to trust in our own possessions - and the more we have the easier it is. But they are all temporary. If we put our trust in the resurrection and live in its spirit then we shall inherit eternal life.

The Readings:
Jeremiah 17:5-8
1 Corinthians 15:12.16-20
Gospel: Luke 6:17.20-26

Collect:
O God,
who teach us that you abide in hearts
that are just and true, grant that we may
be so fashioned by your grace as to
become a dwelling pleasing to you.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Sunday 6th February 2022
FIFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
God Welcomes Sinners

Both Isaiah and Simon Peter were overcome by their unworthiness in the sight of God. But that is not only a sign of God's grace: it is the way of his kingdom.

The Readings:
Isaiah 6:1-8
1 Corinthians 15:1-11
Gospel: Luke 5:1-11

Collect:
Keep your family safe, O Lord,
with unfailing care, relying solely
on the hope of heavenly grace, they
may be defended always by your protection.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
