The Church of St. Augustine is a friendly and welcoming church, committed to proclaiming Jesus Christ as Lord; our faith and worship are in the Anglo–Catholic tradition, under the pastoral and sacramental care of the Bishop of Richmond. The central act of worship is the Mass, wherein we proclaim and celebrate all that God has done for us in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Our worship is conducted with reverence and dignity, and we are blessed in having an excellent musical tradition.

The Liturgy for Sunday 30th October 2022
THE SOLEMNITY OF ALL SAINTS
To Be With God For Ever

We all long to see God face to face. Today we honour countless men and women who remained faithful to Christ's gospel to the hour of death. We pray for the intercession of all the Saints to help us follow them to the heavenly city.

The Readings:
Apocalypse 7:2-4.9-14
1 John 3:1-3
Gospel: Matthew 5:1-12

Collect:
Almighty ever-living God,
by whose gift we venerate in one
celebration the merits of all the Saints,
bestow on us, we pray, through the prayers of so many intercessors, an abundance of the reconciliation with you for which we eternally long.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

THIRTIETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
God, Be Merciful to Me, a Sinner

There is no point in pretending before God: he sees us exactly as we are. If we place ourselves honestly and humbly in his presence then our prayer will be heared.

We extend a warm welcome to the parents, godparents, family and friends of Frankie who is to be Baptised during our Mass today.

The Readings:
Ecclesiasticus 35:21-14.16-19
2 Timothy 4:6-8.16-18
Gospel: Luke 18:9-14
Collect:
Almighty ever-living God,
increase our faith, hope and charity,
and make us love what you command,

TWENTY-NINTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
The Virtue of Perseverance

There is something very human about Moses and the widow in today's readings. It is easy to become discouraged in prayer, but God always has an answer to it, even if it is one we least expect.

The Readings:
Exodus 17:8-13
2 Timothy 3:14-4:2
Gospel: Luke 18:1-8

Collect:
Almighty ever-living God, grant that
we may always conform our will to yours and serve your majesty in sincerity of heart.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

The Liturgy for Sunday 9th October 2022
TWENTY-EIGHTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Thanks Be To God

Just as Naaman and the Samaritan leaper acknowledged God's power, which transformed their lives, so at every Eucharist we give thanks and ask that we may be transformed even as the bread and wine become the body and blood of Christ.

The Readings:
2 Kings 5:14-17
2 Timothy 2:8-13
Gospel: Luke 17:11-19

Collect:
May your grace, O Lord, we pray,
at all times go before us and follow
after and make us always determined
to carry out good works.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

TWENTY-SEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
THE ANNIVERSARY OF DEDICATION
To Live in Faithfulness

To be faithful to God is to be full of faith, willing to trust him and to commit oneself to him completely. If we are prepared to do this then all sorts of wonders become possible. It is in this same spirit of faithfulness that we celebrate today our Anniversary of Dedication, giving thanks not only for our Church building as our spiritual home, but also for the faith we have received from previous generations of Christians who have worshipped here. We pray for our Parish community as we seek to maintain our Tradition to pass on to future generations.

The Readings for the 27th Sunday:
Habakkuk 1:2-3;2:2-4
2 Timothy 1:6-8.13-14
Gospel: Luke 17:5-10

Collect for the Anniversary of Dedication:
O God, who year by year renew for us the day when this your Holy temple was consecrated, hear the prayers of your people and grant that in this place for you there may always be pure worship and for us, fullness of redemption.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
