Liturgy, Solemnities and Feasts - SEPTEMBER 2022

The Liturgy for Sunday 25th September 2022

TWENTY-SIXTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

Woe to Those who Feel Safe

Amos and Luke combine to teach that self-satisfaction is not a godly virtue: we cannot rest contented with our own lot when we have brothers and sisters who are in want. Christ has shared his love with us: we must do likewise.

The Readings:

Amos 6:1.4-7

1 Timothy 6:11-16

Gospel: Luke 16:19-31

Collect:

O God, who manifest your

almighty power above all by pardoning

and showing mercy, bestow, we pray,

your grace abundantly upon us and make those hastening to attain your promises heirs

to the treasures of heaven.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

The Liturgy for Sunday 18th September 2022

SOLEMN REQUIEM MASS

For the repose of the soul of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll.

Prayers:

Almighty God, you are the author

and sustainer of all human life, grant that

your servant, Elizabeth our Queen, whom you granted a long and happy reign as Monarch

of these lands, may be forgiven her sins and

rewarded with eternal life promised to those born again in the water of baptism and power of your Spirit.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Eternal rest, grant to her, O Lord,

And let perpetual light shine upon her.

May she rest in peace. Amen

May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

The Liturgy for Sunday 11th September 2022

During our Mass today prayers will be offered for the repose of the soul of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll. There is a book of condolence in place for anyone who wishes to sign. The Church will be open from 9am.

TWENTY-FOURTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

Christ Jesus Came to Save Sinners

Jesus invited sinners to talk and eat with him. We too have been invited to take part in this Mass. If we are willing to accept his invitation he is waiting to welcome with open arms.

The Readings:

Exodus 32:7-11.13-14

1 Timothy 1:12-17

Gospel: Luke 15:1-10

Collect:

Look upon us, O God,

Creator and ruler of all things, and, that

we may feel the working of your mercy, grant that we may serve you with all our heart.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Amid so many entanglements of life, we need that gift of the Holy Spirit that is divine wisdom to show us the way of salvation.

Philemon 9-10.12-17

redeemed and receive adoption,

look graciously upon your beloved

sons and daughters, that those who believe

in Christ may receive true freedom
